At LockTite Storage our goal is to provide you with an exceptional self storage experience. To learn more about how it works and the industry terminology here are some of the most frequently asked questions.

Finding the Right Self Storage Unit

Do I need a reservation?
You don’t need a reservation, but it’s better if you have one. With a reservation, you can be sure the unit you want is reserved for you, and it will save you time on move-in day. You can reserve online or by phone up to 30 days in advance.

How do I cancel my reservation?
You can cancel your reservation by contacting or visiting the storage facility where the unit was originally reserved. Make sure to check for office hours so you’ll reach a storage manager who can take care of cancelling your reservation.

Can I rent in person or on the telephone?
Yes, you can rent a storage unit in person, over the phone or online. If you rent a storage over the phone or online you will still need to stop by our office during regular business hours to finalize your lease.

What size self storage units do you have?
Our storage units range in size from 5′x5′ to 10′x30′ and are approximately 8’-10’ high (all dimensions are approximate), but some properties also offer spaces including, large warehouse spaces, RV parking and boat parking spaces. What’s the difference between an indoor unit and an outdoor unit?
Indoor units are protected from the elements and have broad hallways (and elevators in multi-story properties). Outdoor units are usually all on one level and frequently offer the convenience of drive-up access.  LockTite Storage properties offer both types of units.

What is climate controlled storage?
Climate Controlled storage units keep items in a constant environment (temperatures between 55°F and 85°F). To ensure climate control, storage units are enclosed and, therefore, resist dust, pests, humidity, and more threats to valuables. If some of your items are valuable, one of a kind or environmentally sensitive they would benefit from climate controlled storage. Our comfort cooled storage units are equivalent to climate controlled storage.

What is a breezeway?
A breezeway unit are typically located along corridors between drive-up units. Fans are generally placed on either side of the breezeway to promote air circulation. While these units are as convenient as a drive-up, they do provide an additional level of convenience from an interior unit as they are always on the ground floor and never more than a 40’ walk from the entry.

What is a drive-up unit?
A drive-up unit is an outside unit with a roll-up door, located on the first floor of a facility.  Drive-up units give you the ability to load belonging into your storage unit directly from your car or truck.

What is a roll-up door?
Roll-up doors are like garage doors – they roll up overhead for easy access. They’re usually wider than swing doors and allow you to maximize the usage of your storage space.

Do you have parking for cars and motorcycles?
Yes, at most LockTite Storage locations we offer drive-up storage units which are great for storing cars and motorcycles. The ideal size storage unit for storing a car is a 10’x20’. 

Do you offer RV and boat storage?
At select LockTite Storage locations we do offer both covered and uncovered RV and boat parking. Please check with your neighborhood LockTite Storage to see if this feature is available.

Do you have electrical outlets in your units?
Typically, no our storage units are not equipped with electrical outlets. However in some instances there might be electrical outlets locate throughout the hallways of the property. If having access to electrical power is important to you, be sure to mention it to your property manager.

What Happens at Move-in

Does LockTite Storage provide locks?
Yes. With each lease signed we provide the tenant with one lock. Should you need another lock at any time during your stay with us additional locks are available for purchase in the office.

Do you keep a key to my self storage unit?
No one else has a key to that lock – just you. If you choose to take advantage of our delivery acceptance amenity we are happy to keep a copy of your key in our office to allow for delivery directly to your storage unit.

Do you have trucks available for moving?
Yes. We offer the use of our free moving truck for all move-ins and move-outs. There is only a charge for insurance and gas, which may be paid for by credit or debit card.  Our moving truck is also available to our tenants at any time.  Be sure to bring a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Do you have handcarts or dollies I can use at your properties?
Yes. You’re welcome to use our complimentary carts and dollies while you’re at LockTite Storage.  When you are done using please place all carts and dollies in their designated areas by main entries to the building.

Do you have elevators?
Yes. If there is no direct exterior access to your floor there are large elevators available for use.

Security and Access

When can I access my self storage unit?
All LockTite Storage properties are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, but access hours may vary by location. Select a location for hours and features.

What’s the difference between access hours and office hours?
During access hours, you can use your gate code to access your storage unit. During office hours, our managers are available to provide in-person customer service (like answering questions, accepting rental payment, etc).

Will my stuff be safe?
Very safe. Here’s what we do to protect our buildings (varies by location):

  • State-of-the-art digital video systems
  • Electronic keypad access to gated property
  • On-site managers at every property
  • Full-time maintenance staff to keep everything clean and well maintained
  • Individually alarmed units

If I rent a storage unit from you, can my spouse, kids or friend have access, too?
When you rent from LockTite Storage you can allow access for other people you specify (or restrict access only to yourself). Simply designate an access code for them and the desired person will be granted access.

If I forget my access code, what do I do?
Call your LockTite Storage Property Manager for assistance during regular business hours. You will need to provide proof of your identity.

Lease Terms and Billing

Do you rent space month-to-month or do I have to sign a long-term lease?
Our rental contracts are month-to-month agreements – no long-term lease is required.

What kind of documentation do I need to provide to rent a storage unit?
You will need to provide a valid, government-issued form of identification (e.g., driver’s license, state ID or passport).

How do I move out?
As a courtesy, we ask that you give notice at least 10 days before your intended vacate date. Then move-out process is easy: just empty your storage unit, and let us know that you’re leaving. We’ll close out your account that day.

Do you require insurance on my stored goods?
No. but you are responsible for the items that you store with us at LockTite Storage and while insurance is not required it is highly recommended. If you don’t have coverage and wish to purchase protection for your belongings we do offer a zero deductible tenant insurance plan. You may also be covered under an existing insurance policy. Be sure to check with your insurance agent to verify that your items are protected.

Do you have automatic payment options?
Sure do. You can sign up for autopay with our managers at move-in or any time during your stay.  We’ll automatically deduct your monthly charges from a credit card, debit card, or bank account. No bills, no checks to mail, no late fees. If you don’t want your rental fee to be paid automatically you can make a one-time monthly payment using our convenient online billing and payment option.

I don’t want to pay online.  Can I pay in person?
Yes.  You can choose to pay in-person at the property with cash, check, or credit/debit card.

What if I’m late in making my payment?
We bill monthly and all payments are due on the 1st of the month. However, we provide a 5-day grace period before charging a late fee of $10 on the 6th of the month. If you don’t pay by the 15th there is an additional $25 late fee assessed to your account.  To avoid the possibility of late fees, we recommend customers sign up for autopay, so that their payments are automatically taken from a bank account or credit card each month.

If I don’t rent storage, can I still purchase moving and packing supplies?
Yes – anyone can buy our high-quality moving and supplies at any of our properties. We offer the most typical items for purchase including boxes, tape and packing paper.

Do you hold auctions?
Yes.  Please look for ads in your newspaper as there is not a standard schedule.
