First time using self storage? Follow these steps to make renting a storage unit easy, affordable and hassle free.
1. Search for the right location
Start by finding the right self storage facility. If you’re like most other self storage newbies you’ll probably call or visit multiple stores before making a final decision. Use our list of the top 15 questions to ask each facility and make sure you’re getting comparable information from each property you visit.
2. Select the type of space you need
At LockTite Storage our storage units come in a variety of types and sizes. From 5′x5′ cooled, heated and dehumidified to 10′x30′ drive-up the variety of choices can be overwhelming. For more detailed explanations of storage unit types and sizes check out Types of Self Storage Units and our Self Storage Size Guide.
If you don’t know how much space you need, you don’t need to guess. Give one of our helpful managers a call. They can help take inventory of your items and make a recommendation to fit your needs. No two tenants are alike, so with years of experience, we know we can come up with a creative solution that’s right for you. Visit our Self Storage Locations page for a list of locations and phone numbers.
3. Store your belongings at LockTite Storage
Now that you’ve selected your location, type and size of storage unit it’s time to reserve or rent. If you need the space for a future date you can pay a small reservation fee to claim the exact storage unit you want. The fee you pay, varies by location, but will be applied to your first month’s rent. To save time, on move-in day feel free to stop by the storage location ahead of time to sign your lease and get your lock.
If you need the space right now, you are welcome to rent a unit either in-person at your neighborhood LockTite Storage or online via our user-friendly rental portal.
Renting a self storage unit is a lot like renting an apartment, except our rental agreements are month-to-month. Each month you’ll pay rent until you no longer need the space. The only thing we ask, is that you give us a 10 day notice before moving out. If you know you’ll be with us for a while, be sure to sign up for autopay and you’ll have one less monthly bill to worry about.
Need a truck or trailer to help with the move? No problem! At select locations, LockTite Storage provides the use of our trucks and trailers free for move-ins and move-outs.
